Pests in the Garden AGAIN

So we have had horn worms on the tomato plants and now this morning I found these on the tomatoes . . .


Do you see all the gnats or maybe they are fruit flies.  I don't know but I do know they need to COME OFF!



Thanks to the advice from several friends, I ended up mixing 1 part Dawn dish detergent to 5 parts water and sprayed the heck out of the tomatoes and the plant.  Then I sprayed all the plants (peppers, zucchini, squash and all the other tomato plants).  By the time I was done spraying everything, I went back to these tomatoes and the "things" were still there but dead.  Thank goodness!

*UPDATE:  I went outside to check the garden this morning and noticed that the stems and leaves that these bugs were on are wilting now.  I clipped them all off and got rid of these tomatoes.  Hope those nasty things don't come back!

Eek . . . Horn Worms on My Tomato Plants

Tonight we were outside swimming and hanging out in the backyard when Kyle noticed something was nibbling on our tomato plants.  We had almost 10 tomato cut worms or also known as horn worms on every plant.  We pulled them all off and took them to the chickens.  They had a sweet treat for dinner.

Good Morning, Garden

I LOVE going out to my garden early in the morning to see what God has blessed us with.  This morning was the best morning so far.  We also had 6 fresh eggs from our chickens.

more than I could count grape tomatoes

A friend told me about a recipe for squash quiche . . . can't wait to get it from her and try it out!

My Beautiful Roses

We moved into this house last spring and I discovered that the previous owners must have LOVED roses.  We have approx 15 plants total in the front yard and backyard.  Last year, I pruned them good and fertilized them and this year we are thoroughly enjoying them.  Don’t ask me what kind or varieties they are casue I have NO clue but I do know that they are beautiful.  I have also discovered Instagram, PS Express and Fotolr PS apps for my iPhone 4S thanks to my friend, FAB JESS.  I have been taking tons of pics with my phone and playing with them on the apps.  These are just a few of my favorites.
